Characteristics of  the Artist

An islander by excellence both geographically and humanly.

He lives by conscience.

He travels a lonely road-alienated from what goes on in the world of arts, not for any reason, but by his own choosing

Reasons For These Characteristics

His enormous creative potential turns one single theme into endless visual and pictorial interpretations

Conscientious knowledge that even if he lived a thousand years would not have enough time to put on canvas all his creations up to this moment

The ostracism that he has been subject to for the past twenty years for keeping himself totally independent as a Professional of the Arts he has always defended the values of  the individual as a whole ,and fought the cult to the development of mediocrity

His Work is Characterized

As being versatile

As having a diverse thematic approach

As having been considered an artisan of light

As having the ability to transmit facial expressions, which normally are not painted

For the poses of the Human Body apparently correct, but anatomically impossible

By the subtle, optical changes of small or large alterations of urban or rural landscape, or architecture itself, that makes it impossible to be identically reproduced by photograph

By a strong hold over the “complexity” of simplicity

By the very characteristic way of grasping and picturing the small details

By a composition with strong lines obviously vigorous, although sometimes intentionally subtle

By being totally conceived in his mind, and then simply conveyed to the canvas

His way of being is Characterized

By only being passionate about his work until it is complete on canvas. After that his passion lies with his next creation

By realizing that the only thing he does well, is rationalize. The rest comes off his hands as if by magic

By having a notable capacity of mental elaboration, as proved by his masterpieces “ESPIRITO SANTO” and “CORTE_REAL” hanging respectively in the Vatican and the Portuguese Navy Frigate

By his love of automobiles that he has yet to paint

He hates the bulls, which he loves to paint, for the esthetic value of their dynamic as in “GAONERA IMPOSSIVEL” where in every detail there are errors, but as a whole exist a harmony, which provides the illusion that we are in the presence of the most perfect “faena”

By associating with the few friends, although not related to him, make up a great part of his small family

By considering his Health his fortune and his Friends his riches

By considering that life, aside from the treasure of friendship, is measured by those who are able to be immortalized.
